My Design Process

My Design Process

My process is a collaborative, iterative, and data-driven approach to creating products that are beautiful, functional, and user-friendly. I believe that great design is more than just aesthetics; it's about solving problems and making people's lives easier. By working closely with a range of stakeholders, I ensure that my designs meet the needs of the project and exceed the expectations of the end user.

Every project is different but will follow a basic process

Every project is different but will follow a basic process

I've developed a tried and true process that I rely on for every project. It is broken down into six key phases: Discover, Define, Develop, Test & Refine, Delivery, and Tracking. Although the nature of product design can be unpredictable and requirements often shift, my process is flexible and agile enough to adapt as needed.

Hey

Phase 1

Discover Unknowns
In the Discover phase, I delve into the details of the project, including business goals, preliminary research, workshopping, stakeholder interviews, and competitive analysis. This phase is all about understanding the scope of the project and identifying all of the unknowns.

Phase 2

Define the Problem
In the Define phase, I define the problem by crafting a clear problem statement with a "How Might We" (HMW) statement. I also create clear design principles to guide the design process and ensure that the solution aligns with the goals of the project.

Phase 3

Devlop Solutions
Next comes the Develop phase, where I create prototypes of various fidelities, from low to high. I gather feedback from other designers and stakeholders to inform my process and iterate the design until it meets the project requirements.

Phase 4

Test & Refine
In the Test & Refine phase, I put the design to the test with real users. I work closely with Researchers to conduct usability testing and customer feedback sessions, using qualitative feedback to refine and iterate the design. I also collaborate with Data Scientists to conduct A/B testing, using quantitative feedback to inform design decisions. It's a data-driven approach that ensures the design meets the user's needs and goals.

Phase 5

Delivery
In the Delivery phase, I work with engineering to ensure that the design is implemented to the highest standard of craft and that the documentation is clear and concise. As part of the documentation, I create accessibility specs to ensure that the product is usable and accessible to all users. It's a collaborative effort that requires strong communication and attention to detail.

Phase 6

Tracking
Finally, in the Tracking phase, I monitor the design's performance, gather feedback from users, and continue to iterate based on that feedback. It's an ongoing process of improvement and refinement that ensures the design is meeting the needs of the user.
